2013 Teacher of the Year Greg Ahlquist Shares and Listens
Greg Ahlquist was the 2013 New York State Social Studies Teacher of the Year and is currently a consultant for the State Education Department. As a consultant, he has been part of the process of revising the social studies frameworks. On March 10th, the New York State Board of Regents met with the advisory panel to discuss the new Common Core aligned social studies curriculums developed by the advisory panel. It is possible that the new frameworks will be approved by the Board of Regents by the time you receive this. Greg Ahlquist will talk about
the new frameworks and share his insights on the future of social studies in New York. Will there be a ninth-grade
social studies Regents? Will the tenth-grade Regents remain the same? How will the Common Core change social studies? After the presentation Greg will answer your questions.
