  • 08 Aug 2015
  • 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Starts from Wellesley Island, NY

Explore the Gilded Age with OHA’s Thousand Island Boat Tour, “A Tale of Two Castles.” Following a short and scenic cruise down the St. Lawrence River, the first disembarkation is at Boldt Castle, a symbol of the American Dream pursued by builder and hotelier George Boldt, where participants will have a private tour through the largely restored castle with Jordan Walker, Manager of Collections, Archives and Exhibits. A private champagne lunch will follow at the Thousand Islands Club on Wellesley Island. After lunch, participants cruise upriver to quiet Chippewa Bay, dominated by Singer Castle on Dark Island where historian Judy Keeler will give a tour of the 28-room castle. After the tour, participants will enjoy drinks in the formal garden, planted with heirloom flowers and sited above a sweeping view of the mighty St. Lawrence River. Participants then cruise back to the Thousands Islands Club after a full day of river explorations.

Price includes boat rental, lunch, admission to the castles, drinks and snacks.
