The Teach-the-Teachers Initiative is a multi-day program that provides high school teachers of various disciplines with the understanding of economics concepts. Teachers learn numerous instructional strategies and assessment methods as well as how to actively engage students to ensure knowledge retention.

The novelty of the program is the Economics Across the Curriculum approach, which encourages the incorporation of economic concepts into various fields of study. The program, therefore, appeals not only to economics teachers but also to teachers of English language arts, social studies, math, and foreign languages. The participants’ diversity generates cross-pollination of ideas, dynamism, and the interdisciplinary approach to teaching. The integration of economic concepts into various subjects helps the students develop critical thinking, informational text analysis, real-world application, and other skills that are transferable to various fields of study, academia, and the workplace.

The program is interactive, incorporating active learning techniques with hands-on activities. Participants learn economic concepts and their application to real life problems, as well as new educational approaches to deliver the content to a typical 21st century learner.
